BECOMING ME: A WARP TEXT DESIGN

For this Design Assignment, I completed the Warp Text Design challenge by combining a personal photograph with an original poem. I wanted to create a piece that felt both reflective and creative, so I chose a photo of myself standing in an open field. The image represents growth, possibility, and the idea that life is full of opportunities waiting ahead. Instead of simply placing text on the image, I arranged my poem so it became part of the overall design and storytelling. 2 stars

The poem, Becoming Me, focuses on personal growth and self-discovery. The lines “I am made of hopes, love and dreams” and “My story is unfinished” reflect the idea that identity is constantly developing. I chose a handwritten-style font because it feels personal, almost like a journal entry or a note to my future self. The placement of the text guides the viewer’s eye through the image while emphasizing the message of becoming who I am meant to be. The open sky and field reinforce the themes of freedom, growth, and possibility.

This assignment helped me think about how typography can communicate emotion just as much as an image can. Rather than describing the photograph, the poem adds another layer of meaning and encourages viewers to think about their own journeys. I enjoyed experimenting with the relationship between words and visuals and seeing how they could work together to tell a story. The final design represents not only a photograph of me, but also a snapshot of who I am and who I am still becoming.
