THE MARRIAGE PACT: VIDEO GAME EDITION

Your story as a game! 3.5 stars

When I thought about what The Marriage Pact would look like as a video game, I imagined it as a story-driven mystery game where players uncover secrets while making choices that affect relationships and outcomes. The game would take place in an upscale suburban setting that initially appears perfect but slowly reveals a darker side. Players would control Alice, exploring different locations, gathering clues, and deciding who to trust. Similar to narrative games like Life is Strange or Until Dawn, each decision would influence how the story unfolds.

For the game cover art (Chat GTP), I wanted to create a sense of mystery without revealing major plot twists. The cover would feature Alice standing alone in the foreground while shadowy figures stand behind her. A wedding ring would appear prominently as a symbol of both commitment and control. Dark colors and dramatic lighting would hint at danger beneath the surface. I intentionally would not include specific villains or major events because part of the game’s appeal would be discovering those secrets while playing.

If I were creating a cutscene, I would frame Alice in the center of the screen while surrounding characters appear partially hidden or out of focus. This would emphasize her growing isolation and uncertainty. The visual style would be realistic with suspenseful music and cinematic camera angles. I wanted the game to feel like a psychological thriller where players constantly question what is real and whom they can trust. This assignment helped me think about how video games tell stories differently than books by allowing audiences to participate directly in the narrative through their choices.

This is a good video example I looked at in furthering my understanding of how I would design this story into a video game!
